Color Trends 2011

Pantone (the God of color trends for the design industry) seems to have a knack for predicting what will be in and out in the world of color. If you read any of the popular design blogs I'm sure you have been overloaded with the 2011 color Honeysuckle, so I won't dwell on it. All you need to know about it is that it's reddish pink, it's lovely, and I've been having a hot affair with it for some time now.

However, Pantone did also predict some other hot color palettes for 2011.

Some of the popular colors from the palettes include:

Purple & Pale Gold

Now each of these color combos (9 in all) consists of 8-9 colors. For example, the purple and pale gold in the first pic is also accompanied by six other colors. Three shades of gray, a stonewash blue, a wine color, and a chocolate brown. Sometimes forecasting trends whether it be interiors or fashion makes me laugh because I have never based a color selection on the fact that Pantone thinks it's gonna be hot in the upcoming year. If I want to wear mauve or paint my walls teal I'm gonna go ahead and do it. What I'm trying to say is march to your own beat folks and if you're totally design challenged or totally color blind then (and only then) rely on Pantone to tell you what to do do :)
