State of the Union

It's a disaster. But I suppose it's never easy to paint a piece of furniture in a studio apartment with two cats who like to jump on top of freshly primed desks (see below) and chew gigantic holes in plastic drop cloths.

{See the little kitty paw prints?}

{What you can't see here is tons of chew holes....}

Two coats of primer are completed. One coat left to do tonight and the color can finally go on this weekend! So pumped. I am a wee bit concerned about the paint. I suppose I should actually rephrase that.....I'm not worried about the awesome kelly green paint color I'm worried about the consistency of the paint itself. It's Sherwin Williams which I know can be iffy sometimes but the green was right on so I thought I'd give it a go. I used this same green for the artwork I'm doing (canvas 2 was completed last night, 2 more to go!) and it was super runny and I had to layer on 4 coats of it. I felt like I was using watercolors. Other odd thing....A friend of mine went to a different Sherwin Williams location and bought quarts of paint for under $10 each yet for one quart my total was almost $20. I also wanted a flat finish and they said they don't do flat, only matte.  Yet my same friend got flat paint. Different price....Weird consistency....Different finish. I'm sensing I got dooped.

{First finished canvas plus the other 3 that I sketched the same pattern on. It's like paint by number! Like the cat toy on the floor?}

And because I am feeling very honest today, is it weird for me wonder out loud that I'm terribly worried my little art project will end up looking like a Georgia O'Keefe vagina painting?

As I was sketching out the rest of the design last night I would erase anything that started to resemble the O'Keefe above. Because yes I am worried people might think I have vagina art above my bed.
