I saw this last week on Emily A. Clark's blog and just had to check it out for myself. The New York Public Library has an online digital image website that allows you to print out art for free. Seriously. ....It's almost too much to look through! You can search by subject and they have everything from war images to walrus heads. My favorite has to be the "Classic 6:" New York City Apartment Building Living, 1880s-1910s section. There's more than 1,300 digital images that depict elevation views and floor plans for middle and upper class apartment buildings from New York City's pre-World War I residential building boom. Within this section are elevations, floor plans and even old plumbing drawings!
